June Cycle Travel Club Giveaway

If you’ve been around Cycle Travel Club for any length of time, you know I’m always looking for places that make traveling with your bike easier, more fun, and a whole lot more memorable.

Not just hotels.

Not just destinations.

Places that truly understand cyclists.

This month, we’re excited to give away a 2-night stay at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado, one of the most unique bike-friendly properties we’ve come across in the United States.

And after digging into what they’re building there, I can see why cyclists keep coming back.

More Than a Hotel. It’s a Cycling Community.

Most hotels offer a place to sleep.

Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort offers a place to belong.

Nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak and minutes from Garden of the Gods, the resort has spent the last decade building a community centered around cycling, adventure, live music, and the outdoors. The property is home to group rides, cycling events, bike culture, local advocacy, live entertainment, and even its own cycling podcast called Pedal the Springs. The resort’s mission is simple: make every cyclist feel welcome.

As owner Torie Giffin often says:

“We wanted to create more than lodging. We wanted to create a basecamp where cyclists feel like they belong.”

That vision has helped transform Buffalo Lodge into one of Colorado Springs’ most recognized cycling destinations.

Why Colorado Springs Belongs on Every Cyclist’s Bucket List

I’ll admit it.

When many cyclists think about Colorado, their minds immediately jump to Boulder.

But Colorado Springs deserves a serious look.

This region offers an incredible combination of:

  • Epic mountain scenery
  • World-class road cycling
  • Gravel adventures
  • Mountain biking
  • Small-town charm
  • Easy airport access
  • Hundreds of miles of ride options

And unlike some cycling destinations where you’re constantly loading your bike into a car, many rides begin right from the front door.

That’s my kind of cycling destination.

The Rides That Make This Place Special

Garden of the Gods

Imagine rolling through towering red rock formations with Pikes Peak standing guard in the background.

This is one of the most iconic rides in America.

It’s the type of place where you stop every few minutes because you can’t believe what you’re seeing.

Pikes Peak

For climbers, this is legendary territory.

Cycling to the summit of Pikes Peak is on many riders’ bucket lists and for good reason. The views are massive, the challenge is real, and the bragging rights last forever.

New for 2026: Explore Colorado Springs by E-Bike

One thing I absolutely love seeing is destinations making cycling more accessible.

Buffalo Lodge recently added a new PikeRide station directly on property.

These Class 1 e-bikes allow guests to explore Colorado Springs and nearby Manitou Springs without needing to bring a bike or tackle every climb under their own power.

That’s a big win for:

  • Couples with different fitness levels
  • New cyclists
  • Travelers flying in
  • Non-cycling spouses
  • Recovery rides

The more people we can get on two wheels, the better.

Why Cyclists Keep Coming Back

The thing that stood out most to me wasn’t the location.

It wasn’t the rides.

It wasn’t even the scenery.

It was the community.

The Buffalo Lodge Bike Tribe hosts regular group rides and welcomes road cyclists, mountain bikers, gravel riders, tandem riders, recumbent riders, and e-bike riders alike. The message is simple:

You belong here.

That mindset reminds me a lot of what we’re building at Cycle Travel Club.

A place where cycling isn’t about watts, speed, or Strava segments.

It’s about adventure.

Connection.

Stories.

And the people you meet along the way.

Celebrating 10 Years of Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort

This year marks the resort’s 10th anniversary.

On June 13, Buffalo Lodge is celebrating with a full day of cycling, music, food, community rides, and festivities, including a special anniversary ride, pool party, VIP celebration, and live music event. The property recently announced its new PikeRide station as another step in expanding access to cycling throughout the region.

A decade ago, Buffalo Lodge set out to create a cycling-focused destination unlike anything else in Colorado Springs.

Ten years later, they’re still growing.

And cyclists are the beneficiaries.

Final Thoughts

I’ve stayed at bike hotels around the world.

Some have great bikes.

Some have great scenery.

Some have great service.

Very few successfully create a cycling culture.

Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort appears to have built exactly that.

A place where you can roll out of your room, meet fellow cyclists, discover new roads, share stories over a drink, and feel like part of something bigger than just another vacation.

That’s the kind of place I want to visit.

And that’s exactly why I wanted to feature it as our June Giveaway.

Good luck, and maybe I’ll see you in Colorado.
