ToggleWhy South Korea May Be Asia’s Best-Kept Secret for Cyclists Who Want to Ride—and Recover
For years, I thought the perfect cycling destination was all about the roads.
Epic climbs.
Quiet country lanes.
Great coffee stops.
Beautiful scenery.
Those things still matter. A lot.
But after what happened to me in Greece, I started looking at cycling travel differently.
In May 2023, while cycling in Greece, I was hit by a truck. The crash left me with nine broken ribs, seven fractured vertebrae, a collapsed lung, nerve damage, and months of recovery ahead. I went from riding thousands of miles around the world to spending weeks wondering if I’d ever feel like myself again.
Recovery became part of my cycling journey.
That journey eventually brought me to South Korea.
And it completely changed how I think about cycling vacations.
What if your next cycling trip actually helped your body recover?
Most cycling holidays follow the same pattern.
You fly halfway around the world.
Your body is dehydrated.
Jet lag steals your first day.
Your legs feel heavy.
Your neck and back tighten from sitting on the plane.
Then you immediately jump on the bike.
Most of us simply accept that’s part of international travel.
But what if it didn’t have to be?
What if your destination actually helped prepare your body before your first ride—and helped you recover after your last one?
That’s exactly what I’ve experienced while living in South Korea.
Why Korea surprised me
Most people associate Korea with K-beauty, incredible food, technology, and K-pop.
Cyclists should add something else to that list.
Recovery.
Over the past two years, I’ve discovered a country where wellness isn’t treated like a luxury—it’s woven into everyday life. Sports recovery clinics, traditional therapies, advanced technology, and experienced practitioners are surprisingly accessible.
As someone still managing long-term injuries from my accident, I’ve personally experienced treatments that have helped me continue cycling, lose weight, improve mobility, and recover more comfortably.
That experience inspired something new.
Europe Will Always Be Amazing. Korea Offers Something Different.
I’ve ridden some of the world’s most iconic cycling destinations.
Mallorca.
Portugal.
Germany.
Belgium.
Norway.
Each offers unforgettable roads, breathtaking scenery, and incredible cycling culture.
South Korea isn’t trying to replace those destinations.
It offers something different.
While Europe is famous for legendary climbs and centuries-old villages, Korea combines beautiful cycling routes with one of the world’s most accessible wellness cultures.
Imagine finishing a day on the bike and having access to recovery experiences that many cyclists only associate with elite athletes.
That’s what surprised me most.
Not just the riding.
But how easy it was to take care of my body while I was here.
For cyclists planning multi-day adventures—especially those traveling internationally—that combination is something I haven’t experienced anywhere else.

Introducing The Pylon Square Cyclist Reset
Instead of creating another cycling vacation…
We wanted to create something we couldn’t find anywhere else.
The Pylon Square Cyclist Reset is a curated wellness experience built specifically for cyclists visiting South Korea.
Rather than sending you to a single spa or clinic, The Pylon Square carefully combines trusted wellness partners into one seamless experience designed around how cyclists actually travel.
Whether you’re preparing for your first ride after a long international flight or recovering after several unforgettable days exploring Korea by bike, every part of the experience is selected with one goal:
Helping you ride better, recover faster, and leave Korea feeling better than when you arrived.
Who is The Pylon Square?
The Pylon Square is a wellness and lifestyle concierge based in Seoul, South Korea. Their mission is simple: connect visitors with carefully selected wellness experiences that are trusted, convenient, and tailored to their needs.
Instead of asking travelers to research clinics, compare treatments, or navigate language barriers, The Pylon Square curates a personalized experience using its network of vetted wellness partners. The result is a seamless journey that lets visitors focus less on logistics and more on enjoying Korea.
For cyclists, that means a recovery-focused experience built around your ride—not just another day at the spa.
Before you ride
Imagine arriving in Korea after a long international flight.
Instead of wondering how long jet lag will last…
Instead of hoping your body adjusts before your first ride…
Your recovery begins immediately.
Your Pre-Cycling Wellness Experience may include:
- IV Hydration Therapy
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
- Whole-Body Cryotherapy
- Infrared Therapy
These therapies are selected to help you rehydrate, recover from travel fatigue, support your body’s natural recovery processes, and prepare you for the adventures ahead.
Why Recovery Matters More Than Most Cyclists Realize
Most cyclists spend months planning their routes, training rides, and packing lists.
Very few spend any time thinking about recovery.
Yet recovery often determines how much you enjoy the trip.
After a long-haul flight, your body is already working harder than usual. Sitting for hours can leave your hips and back feeling stiff, dehydration can sap your energy, and crossing multiple time zones can disrupt sleep just when you need it most.
Add several consecutive days of riding, climbing, and exploring, and even experienced cyclists can start to feel the effects.
That’s why many endurance athletes don’t wait until they’re sore to recover—they make recovery part of the plan.
The Pylon Square Cyclist Reset follows that same philosophy. Instead of reacting to fatigue, it helps prepare your body before your first ride and supports recovery after your last.
It’s not about replacing good nutrition, sleep, or training. It’s about helping you get the most from the cycling adventure you’ve traveled so far to enjoy.

Then comes the best part
Ride Korea.
Explore quiet riverside bike paths.
Climb scenic mountain roads.
Discover hidden cafés.
Experience one of Asia’s most underrated cycling destinations.

After the ride
The final ride doesn’t mean the experience ends.
Now it’s time to help your body recover.
Your Post-Cycling Wellness Experience may include:
- Chuna Manual Therapy
- Acupuncture
- Cupping Therapy
These treatments are designed to support mobility, muscle recovery, relaxation, and help ease the physical demands of long days in the saddle.
Instead of flying home stiff and exhausted…
You leave feeling refreshed.
